Employee Spotlights – part 3

This is the last part of our three part blog series for you to meet our team! We wanted you to get to know the amazing First Give employees to better understand the work we do and the people behind the scenes. We hope introducing our passionate team will engage more schools and people to work and collaborate with us. Check out the last three #employeespotlights below!

✨Meet our team✨ Our seventh employee spotlight features Amal.

Amal joined First Give in September 2023 as a Programme Delivery Officer. She supports the programme delivery with our schools in London and surrounding areas.

Amal has a background in primary school teaching. She was drawn to her role at First Give as she could continue working in an education setting and with young people. She believes strongly that when young people are aware of social issues surrounding them, this awareness plays a crucial role in their personal development and overall well-being and empathy.

In her role, Amal enjoys travelling to different schools across the country and getting to explore new areas as well as learning from her colleagues, partner school teachers and young people every day. Amal is also excited to do more team volunteering, similar to our recent team volunteering day at The Felix Project, and looks forward to carrying out social action more regularly in her local area.💐

We are glad to have Amal as a new member in our programmes team and thank her for her contributions to the team!💜

✨Meet our team✨ Our eighth employee spotlight features Georgia, or Geo as she’s called by our team.

Georgia began her journey with First Give in 2018 as a Programme Officer and has since progressed to be a Programme Manager and is now appointed the Programmes Team Leader. In her new role, Georgia manages the fantastic and high performing programmes team by overlooking all school partnerships and supports the team to ensure all programmes run well and that all our teachers are supported.

Georgia was searching for a job with purpose that involved working with young people and First Give ticked these boxes! She believes encouraging young people in social action helps them think outside themselves and our programme offers them a unique opportunity to see the real positive change they are having by helping their local community. Georgia’s endorsement for youth social action stems from her own experiences. She recalls that when she was young, her first piece of social action was washing people’s cars in her local community to support DEBRA UK, after being deeply moved by a documentary film related to the charity.

Georgia’s favourites thing about working at First Give is the people; the team is so supportive of one another and take pride in what they do. She also enjoys seeing her own, and her teams’ growth and development at work which is something very important to her. Additionally, Georgia has learned a lot about schools, education, and young people, as well as how heroic teachers are!

From her more recent experiences in volunteering as a mentor for young people, Georgia is now keen to become a charity trustee and be able to help with strategy work and the bigger picture!🎉

We are proud to have Georgia as our Programmes Team Leader and thank her for all her contributions to First Give over the years!🧡

✨Meet our team✨ To wrap up our employee spotlight series, we are featuring Elijah.

Elijah is the newest addition to our team! He joined First Give this November 2023 as our Administrator. He supports First Give with an array of administrative responsibilities such as financial admin, resource management, CRM support, and judge recruitment.

Elijah decided to apply to First Give after reading about our programme and thinking it was a great idea that he was keen get involved with. Elijah believes engaging young people in social action to support local charities embodies the term ‘community’ in its most positive and inclusive form. It gives young people who are often underestimated, a chance to show how much change they are capable of enacting and ensures that schools and charities feel connected and support one another.

So far, Elijah’s favourite thing about working at First Give has been the people; he appreciates learning in his new role while being a part of a supportive and welcoming team. Furthermore, in his spare time, Elijah advocates for the charities Target Ovarian Cancer, as well as Centrepoint which is the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity.🤝

We are excited to have Elijah as our new team member and thank him for all his hard work for our charity!💙
