Empowering change: Exciting updates to the First Give Programme for the 2023/2024 academic year!

First Give is excited to announce a series of changes to our programme, aimed at maximising student engagement and impact. The pandemic was a time of real turbulence in schools, meaning First Give was conscious not to add more change by adapting the programme. Now, we have been able to carefully consider the feedback received from schools and teachers and are proud to announce a range of enhancements that will shape the First Give experience for the 2023/2024 academic year.

“Their voice matters” – First Give at Ark Elvin Academy

This year, Ark Elvin Academy’s First Give Final left us feeling inspired by the presenting students who reflected the diverse population within Brent. The exemplary Final had external judges that were inspired by the students’ social action projects and presentations. It was clear that the First Give programme supported the students in developing new skills such as presenting with confidence, and speaking out on matters that are important to them. We look forward to continuing our long-lasting partnership with Ark Elvin Academy and can’t wait to see what the students come up with next year. Bedford Academy Introduce First Give Into Their English Curriculum

Bedford Academy year 8 students carried out a successful First Give programme in their English curriculum. The lead teacher believed it was an easy fit as the programme develops skills such as public speaking, listening, writing, and holistic research. Learning these key skills was also negatively impacted by the pandemic, so the programme helped recover learning lost. The students identified social issues that mattered to them and carried out creative social action and presentations in the final. The passion and motivation of the year 8 students made this a great programme year!
